Self-proclaimed “citizen of the World” Pablo Fierro actually grew up in the Canary Islands, so it’s perhaps unsurprising that his trademark take on electronic music, and house in particular, tends towards the tropical. Humanidad, his first album for a decade, is an undeniably kaleidoscopic, musically expansive affair, with Latin and African percussion and instrumentation being combined with deep house, big room, tech-house and downtempo grooves. It makes for a wonderfully vibrant and entertaining album all told, with picks of a very strong bunch including exotic tribal house roller ‘Angelus’, the Mr Raoul K-influenced Afro-house of ‘Tempo’, the gloriously sun-splashed dancefloor positivity of ‘Chameleon’ and the intoxicating global tech-house fusion of ‘ON MY BPM’.
